Early Spring back bay lures

What would be a good lure this time of year in the back bays????confused

well jeff speakin for my self ill be fly swattin with some of charlies flys that i snuck out of his fly bag when he wasnt looking.......but swimmers and some small poppers would work well.......ive been also tossing slugg-o's last fall so ill give them a shot and will switch if the blues are around they have no mercie on a sluggo

hope to hook up with like the last trip we did couple years back where we had bluefish action all day

im sure them slim swimmers will work just fine........and them small poppers.

Early season in the bays my primary lure is a 4 or 5in pink zoom or finesse fish tail in pink on a jig head. It always has seemed to catch for me.
Another good lure if your going with plastic is a Yo-zuri crystal minnow or mag darter.
I never have done any good in the spring with wood in the bays in spring. But that's just me.
I have found smaller lures work best in spring.

Bombers (especially broken back schoolbus ones!) and hollow body swim baits T rigged

Swim em slow in the cool water


On the flats - jerk baits - big X-raps and the like
