I bought the 6000 and fished all summer and all fall with the reel. Its been great so far. I ordered an extra spool and loaded one with mono and one with Berkley Braid. For the price you can't beat it. Its as smooth as the day I got it. Highly recommended.

after dealing with a penn 5500ss for a few years now and hating it, i was reluctant to buy another penn spinner. i will be curious to find out how you like it, and others also. my big question is how well sealed is it? this fall i have been deeper in the water than ever before and am looking for something that can handle dunking in salt water. i hate to spend the $ on a van stall, i am sure there are cheaper reels out there that can handle the salt water. let us know how you like it.

Bought a 6000 as a backup last spring.Used it twice on the jetties in the spring
Handled a few bass in the mid teens to mid twenties flawlessly.
Drag was very smooth
Im thinking your really gonna like it.
Good Luck with it
