Left Rusty Joe's at day break with some fresh bunker. Fished close to shore in about 16-18 feet of water. 30 minutes into the trip we get a monster run and we are working the fish to the boat and our power pro snapped mad
First fish we lost this season but not the last of the day...
We boated 4 fish over the next 3 hours and released 3 more as we were at our limit with one bonus tag and we were in the port norris tourney. The 4 fish were nice with one at 27 lbs. The last fish we had on was a very heavy fish but as my nephew reeled her in he snapped the handle on his fairly new Penn spinning reel. Another reason I use conventional reels. You would have laughed your arse off watching us try to get this fish to boat wihtout a handle on the reel Very Happy
As soon as the tide flipped the bite died and we needed to get to port norris for the weigh in so we pulled the hook at 2:15.
A great day to be out on the water

Good job Joe. thought I saw you still anchored when we came back North. Must've been someone else. I tried to reach you on the radio at about 4:15. Just as well constant action until we got the big one and then it went oddly dead.

Thanks everyone!
That fish on the broken reel lived to swim another day. When we first hooked up with her she jumped out of the water like a blue marlin :-)
